From what he understands, Coach Knight will be buried in his beloved hometown of Orrville in a family plot.

Bobby Knight was born to parents in their forties as an only child to, Pat (Carroll) and Hazel Knight, on October 25, 1940, in Orrville, Ohio.

His dad, Pat, was a railroad man with no interest in sports. Although he taught him fishing and hunting, never attended his son’s games.

Originally from Oklahoma, he moved to Ohio before he married Bobby’s mother, a native Ohioan Hazel Henthorne an elementary school teacher.

Although he admits his mom had considerable influence on him, he was raised mainly by his maternal grandmother, who lived with his family.

In his parents’ absence, his grandmother, Sarah Henthorne, looked after him and let him enjoy his games during his leisure time with local kids...He would later become a three-sport athlete at Orrville High and on to Ohio State University where he would win a National Title as a player in 1960 and compete for two others.

Known by fans as "Super-Sub" for his high- strung and intense demeanor and the first player off the bench...Hall of Fame Coach Fred Taylor affectionately called him " The Brat from Orville."

His parents rest at Crown Hill Cemetary in Orrville.

“There is nothing in our lives other than our own families that I think we can be prouder of than the fact that we are Buckeyes.”

Coach Bob Knight
