Mods, first off, I did see SteamBuck's post, but I thought I'd give a more in depth recap. I understand if you need to close this one since Steam got the first jump.

It was opening weekend of NCAA D1 baseball, and the Baseball Bucks found themselves in the desert playing in the MLB Desert Invitational. Overall it was a solid weekend for the Buckeyes as they finished the weekend 2-1

Starting on Friday, the Buckeyes played Boston College. It started off well as BC went 1-2-3 including two strikeouts in the T1 and Trey Lipsey got a lead off triple then scored on a wild pitch in the B1, but it all went downhill from there as BC scored 2 in the T2 and didn't look back. Matthew Graveline scored on a Joseph Mershon RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2. However, the pitching crew gave up 10 walks as the Eagles pulled away to win 9-2. Starting pitcher Landon Bieldelshies was given the loss as he gave up BC's first three runs, though he did have somewhat of a silver lining, striking out 6 Eagle batters through 4 innings.

Saturday's game against Brigham Young University went a whole lot better overall. This time the scoring didn't start until the T3 when Ohio State's Nick Giamarusti slammed home the Buckeyes' first home run of the season, giving them a 1-0 lead. The Cougars would tie it in the B4, but Ohio State pulled away and shut the door on BYU scoring 2 in each of the T8 and T9 to win the game 7-2. Starting pitcher Colin Purcell earned the win as he struck out 4 Cougars through 5 innings, and reliever and closer Hunter Shaw recorded the save, striking out 6 through the final 4 innings. In a massive improvement from Friday, the two Ohio State pitchers gave up 0 walks in the win.

To close out the weekend, Ohio State played future Big Ten opponent USC. This time USC got the scoring started as they scored 2 in the T4, but Ohio State flipped the script on the Trojans, taking a 3-2 lead with a 2 run B5, courtesy of a Henry Kaczmar RBI double (scoring Lipsey) and a bases loaded walk by Mason Eckelman, scoring his cousin, Kaczmar. The Buckeyes would add some insurance runs in the B6 and B8 to pull away for the 5-2 win. Starting pitcher Gavin Bruni earned his first win of the season as he fanned 6 Trojans in 5 innings and closer Justin Eckhardt earned the save as the pitching crew struck out 9 Trojans and gave up 0 walks.

Again, overall a solid weekend, going 2-1 and giving up 0 walks in both games after the 10 walk mess against BC. There wasn't an official winner as 8 teams played in the Invitational, but Grand Canyon University had the best outing, finishing 3-0. Next in line were Boston College, Cal, and Kansas State all at 2-1 as well; BYU finished 1-2 and USC and Georgetown both finished 0-3.

Up next, Ohio State faces Grand Canyon on Tuesday on ESPN+ before going over to Tempe to take on 2-1 Arizona State in a 4 game weekend series starting on Thursday. As of now, there is no broadcast listed for the games against ASU.
