It only took two games for Ohio State to begin making an impression.
After beating Cincinnati and Purdue Fort Wayne to begin the season, Ohio State remains outside of the latest Associated Press Top-25 poll, which was released Monday afternoon. However, the Buckeyes received their first 14 votes this season. They have the 34th-most votes.
Three Big Ten teams – No. 11 Michigan State, No. 18 Michigan and No. 23 Purdue – made the top 25. Indiana, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Maryland did not make the top 25, but each of them received more votes than Ohio State. Creighton, which the Buckeyes will play on the road on Thursday, did not receive any votes.
Seth Davis of The Athletic slotted Ohio State at 24th in his latest rankings, and NCAA.com's Andy Katz had the Buckeyes at 22nd in the country after ranking them 12th in his preseason Big Ten projections.
