BACKGROUND
This was the final game of the 1925 season. A record crowd of 84,295 was in Ohio Stadium to watch Illinois' Red Grange play in his final collegiate football game. The 84,295 that paid wasn't just an Ohio State record it was the largest crowd to ever attend a sporting event in our nation's history.

KEY PLAY OF THE GAME
Red Grange's two interceptions in the final two minutes of the game. Grange's second interception was at midfield and was the final play of the game and sealed Illinois' 14-9 victory.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Red Grange signed with the Chicago Bears shortly after the game in Columbus. He played the second half of the 1925 NFL season with George Halas' Bears. In Grange's first game with the Bears he had 92 yards rushing, 56 punt return yards and an interception. He also threw six passes. Grange's play and popularity saved the struggling NFL.
John Wilce's last season with Ohio State was 1928. Wilce went 16-7-1 between 1926 and 1928. On 11-6-1926 Wilce was in Ann Arbor scouting That Team when Ohio State played Wilmington in front of an Ohio Stadium all-time low crowd of 5,482.
