Waiting a few hours to post my thoughts on the season. This isn’t a sky is falling troll post.

Let me start by saying….many of us have played sports and/or coached, albeit not at The Ohio State University D1 Top 5 program level. Ryan Day is a smart football coach that runs a fitness nfl and big12 offense from fiveish years ago. I am not a Day head coach fan.

Culture is extremely important to a program, and the brotherhood and closeness of this program can be a great thing. Skill players, plus DLine meet their goals of graduating and earning their NIL and NFL money (as noted by our recruiting class inflation by these positions).

Seems that after Urban left, we went from being a winning and tough “culture” team to a nice/brotherhood/finesse team. “Brotherhood” is nice when you’re winning and beating your rivals, but changes quickly when you’re losing to rivals and important games.

Ryan Day and the Buckeyes seem like nice guys, but not a tough team that’ll let a teammate know when they aren’t playing their game and demand more (I’m not in the locker room or on the practice field, but just based on the sideline and game play).

We out-talent teams, but don’t outplay them when we need to get the gritty yards and stops (shows in 3rd and short on both sides of the ball).

I want someone that is intelligent and tough, give me Urban, Fickell, Vrabel, or someone that gets the most out of their players. Demand a tough/winning culture against rivals, not a brotherhood. Demand they pick up short yards or replace them. We beat up on teams we are supposed to beat, and can’t win the rivalry or big ones.

I have high standards for my alma mater, and I want to see change in the coaching, players, and “brotherhood” culture…any thoughts/opinions on changes after Day had lost 2 big ones going into next season?
