Well, another week in the B1G, another slate of games.
I checked ESPN's scoreboard to see the entry price (As Low As) for each game. And, as we all know, these values do not reflect the extra taxes or fees of which we're accustom.
Because there's two by weeks this year (if Aug 30/31 fall on a Saturday, there's 2 byes, otherwise, 1 bye) six of the 18 B1G teams are off duty this week.
There's two big ticket items this week, and some duds.
Home | Away | As Low As | notes |
---|---|---|---|
Rutgers | Minnesota | $17 | |
OSU!!! | Purdon't | $30 | Not this time, Purdue |
Oregon | Maryland | $37 | |
UCLA | Iowa | $66 | Friday Night FB |
Penn St. | Washington | $106 | PSU MUST win out |
Indiana | TCUN | $226 | Indy needs to win out all non-OSU games |
- The $17 game
- who cares -- rutgers needs to go 2-2 to get a bowl game. They are regressing and the fans aren't showing up.
- The $30 game
- OSU's biggest FBS dud of the year. Actually, perhaps their worst non-Akron team. ESPN's FPI has them as the lowest ranked FBS team, well behind Western Michigan and Marshall.
- On paper, this should be a backup-laden game and the 2nd half should be bereft of meaningful snaps.
- We've said this before, sometimes we're right, sometimes we're wrong.
- The $37 game
- Oregon hosts a dud of a Maryland team... They are #1 (ugh, f'n OPI) so, fans will show up, perhaps not throng to the cheap seats.
- $66 game
- Friday night football at the Rose Bowl. UCLA has picked up some wins and Iowa is a winnable game.
- The $106 game
- Washington is a marquee name (only 5-4, 3-3), but PSU MUST win out. Every game is a playoff eliminator for them now.
- The $226 game
- TCUN @ Undefeated Indiana. Indiana is riding a wave we've never seen before. They are 9-0 with an easy schedule, 11 unranked teams and OSU.
- they have TCUN, Bye week, OSU, Purdue remaining.
- This game is a must win... they will beat Purdue, will lose to OSU. I can't believe I'm saying this, but they win this one, they are playoff bound. Congrats Indy.
