DT Walter Nolen (.9995) is currently the highest-rated prospect on Ohio State's 2022 board. The Buckeyes are battling Alabama, Clemson, LSU and Michigan for Nolen.

This little series will follow the rankings of Ohio State's 2022 commitment class. Going forward, Charting Ohio State's 2022 Committed Players will run on the last Friday of each month.

It is always interesting to see the ups and downs that each player's ratings will take between now and the first Wednesday of February.

Of Note

  1. Quinn Ewers is currently the highest rated quarterback commit in Ohio State history.
     
  2. All of the rankings for Ohio State's commits remained the same since the last update. 
     
  3. Every member of this class is ranked at 4★ or above.
     
  4. The Buckeyes' 2022 class has the best player average (.9610) in the nation.
     
  5. How big is the gulf between Ohio State and the rest of the Big Ten? Ryan Day's 2022 class currently has an average player rating of .9610. The 13 other teams in the B1G combined have a single player (Will Johnson of Michigan) above Ohio State's average player.

Ryan Day already has three 5★ recruits in the 2022 class. The only Ohio State recruiting classes to have more than three 5★ recruits were 2002 (4), 2008 (4), 2017 (5) and 2021 (5).

Fun Fact
Michigan only has two 5★ player between 2020 and today. Ohio State currently has three 5★ players in its 2022 class. Since 2020, the Buckeyes have eleven blue chip players.

Four Out The Door

  1. Ohio State, 240.87 points, currently has the best class in the nation.
  2. The Buckeyes have never had the nation's No. 1 recruiting class.
  3. 94.59 is the highest final player average for a Buckeye class that included at least 10 commits. The 2022 class currently has 11 commits and a player average of 96.04.
  4.  Since 2000, Ohio State has had the Big Ten's best class 14 times. If things hold, 2022 will be the 15th class to take the top spot.
