Daniel Jeremiah(DJ) has released his second mock draft following the Senior Bowl. If you dont know DJ was a scout in the NFL for 10 years before moving to the media and makes his mock drafts after watching film of all of the prospects and talking to sources around the league. He is typically pretty different from the generic media mock drafts from bloggers who slap names on a story.
Picks of note:
- Top 3 stays the same: DJ has Jacksonville taking Evan Neal(OT Bama) #1, Detroit taking Aidan Hutchinson #2, and Houston taking Kyle Hamilton(S Notre Dame) #3 just like his last mock
- Jets(#4+#10)-Ickey Ekwonu(OL NC State) & Sauce Gardner(CB UC)-DJ loves Ickey but his measurables indicate he fits better as a guard and has Sauce as CB1.
- Giants(5/7)-Travon Walker(DL UGA) & Drake London(WR USC)-Travon Walker makes his highest appearance so far this draft cycle and at 6'5" 280 he is a really unique player who dominated at UGA despite a lack of headlines. Its a little unclear what position he would play. Drake London is WR1 due to his ridiculous measurables and production
- Falcons(#8)-Kayvon Thibadeux DE Oregon-Kayvon's stock is starting to drop. He is close to 6'4" 245 which isn't great for an EDGE player and has some flexibility concerns. Still a really good prospect.
- Broncos(#9)-Jermaine Johnson EDGE FSU-Maybe the biggest winner of the senior bowl. Johnson secured a top half of the first round selection after displaying he can do it all as a rusher. Size, speed, strength, and technique were all great.
- Browns(#13)-George Karlaftis EDGE Purdue-With Jadaveon Clowney set to leave the Browns have a gaping hole opposite Garrett. Grabing Karlaftis ensures the Browns have two high end pass rushers for a long time. This would be a home run of a pick.
- Ravens(#14)-Derreck Stingley CB LSU-Despite the media narrative Stingley's stock is pretty low. He is a great athlete who was good as a freshman but was then bad as a sophomore/junior with injury problems and a really bad mindset. Boom or bust prospect.
- Chargers(#17)-Chris Olave-Adding a really good receiver for Herbert for 5 years seems to be a great idea weather or not they resign Mike Williams. Similar to the Bengals it could be pretty hard to stop 3 good receivers with an elite QB.
- Eagles(15/16/19)-David Ojabo(EDGE Michigan) Devonta Wyatt(DT UGA) Garrett Wilson(WR OSU)-This would be a really cool draft where they turn their DL into a huge strength and then pair Wilson with Devonta Smith. Massive talent advantages in two of the most important position groups.
- Bengals(#31)-Bernard Raimann OT CMU-Raimann had a bad senior bowl which can be pretty scary for a guy coming from a small school. Still he is protoype from a size and athleticism standpoint and could slide to guard if needed. At worst seems to be an above average guard with upside to slide out to tackle.
