Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s older brother could make his MLB debut tonight.
The MLB’s Pittsburgh Pirates are calling Canaan Smith-Njigba up to the big leagues, according to a report by Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Per sources: Pirates are calling up Canaan Smith-Njigba and Hoy Park. For Smith-Njigba, assuming he plays, itll mark his MLB debut.

The older Smith-Njigba, who was selected by the New York Yankees in the fourth round of the 2017 MLB draft but traded to the Pirates in 2021, has played in 52 games this season for the AAA Indianapolis Indians and has hit .277 with one home run, 19 RBIs and eight stolen bases.
Smith-Njigba is likely to make his MLB debut in St. Louis, where the Pirates are playing four games against the Cardinals over the next three days, starting with a 7:45 p.m. game Monday.
