Jesus I just had a whole post written with YouTube videos and track history knowledge. My apologies but I don’t feel like spending another 30mins on this.
American men swept worlds in both the 100m and 200m.
Noah Lyles broke Michael Johnson’s 26 year American 200m record of 19.32 in 19.31 seconds. The guy who placed 3rd in the 200m is 18 yr old Erriyon Knighton who has obliterated Usain Bolt's under 20 Jr world record of 19.93 earlier this year in a time of 19.49. I believe within 4 years either or both of Lyles and Knighton with break Usain Bolt’s 200m world record of 19.19.
There is also a promising young track star from Pick Central, Troy Lane. He won state in the 100m shattering the state record in 10.25. The previous best was Brandon Saine’s 10.38.
10.25 is blazing for a high school kid. For reference Tyreek Hill ran 10.19 in HS and was considered one of the fastest HS athletes of all time. DK Metcalf actually ran in a pro track race within the past year and ran a 10.37.
Right now as a hs athlete lane would be a top 5-10 fastest NFL player and probably top 3 fastest CFB player.
I also have to give my own HS some love. Moeller had the 3rd and 4th place 100m runners at state as Sr Brandon White(UK football signee) finished 3rd in 10.59 and Jr Tennell Bryant (2/3 star slot wr) finished 4th in 10.60. I’m high on Bryant both in track and football. He’s undersized at 5’10” 165 but he’s got agility and hands to go with his track speed. I expect him to go around 10.45 next year and contend for the 100m title. He will be Moeller’s star player in football in the fall. He’s a lethal KR threat. I’m shocked Cincinnati hasn’t offered. Fickell sent his son to Moeller so he should be aware of Bryant.
Anyway I’m hyped about USA sprints and also Ohio HS sprints.
I’ll give my top fastest 2022 Buckeyes imo.
