Interesting article in WaPo today about communities investing tens of millions of dollars building massive youth sport facilities, sometimes 10-20 miles from a simple complex. Interest statistics on youth sports are discussed (families spend more than $30 billion a year, youth sports industry pulls in $19 billion which is more than NFL or NBA). https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/07/29/youth-sports-business-f... I admit that when I moved into my current then new house in 2002, being right next to the Maryland Soccerplex (https://mdsoccerplex.org/), the biggest sports complex on the East Coast supposedly at the time was a selling point. I just didn't think there was a market for a large number of these facilities.
