The Cleveland Guardians surpassed their win total of 2023 with a 10-8 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 30. Cleveland finished 76-86 last year and missed the playoffs after playing in the postseason in 2022, beating Tampa Bay in the 1st round. The Guardians are now 77-58 with only 27 games left.
The win over Pittsburgh resulted in Emmanuel Clase making franchise history with his 150th career save, passing Cody Allen's 149 total. Clase was acquired from the Texas Rangers in exchange for Cory Kluber, a trade that has proved to be one of the best in Cleveland history.
Currently, the Guardians hold a 2.5 game lead on Kansas City, and a 3.5 game lead on Minnesota. Cleveland has the most home games remaining in MLB. The Guardians have overcome a rash of injuries to the pitching staff, and even with inconsistent hitting, the team has been in 1st place since April.
Hoping to see our Guardians get to the finish line with a seat at the postseason table.
