Women's volleyball goes 3-0 in north texas challenge
The number 15 ranked Ohio State women’s volleyball team dominated at the North Texas Challenge last weekend. On day one of the challenge, Ohio State swept Texas State and North Texas in its opening games of the season. The Buckeyes defeated Texas State 25-16, 25-15, 25-14, and North Texas 25-23, 25-17, 25-19. Leading the Buckeyes for the day was sophomore Audra Appold with 25.5 points responsible for. Taylor Sandbothe also played an important role in the day with 23.5 points which included 19 kills, three blocks, and two service aces. Ohio State racked up a total of 43 kills combined for the day.
On day two of the challenge, Ohio State reigned victorious over number 13 ranked Texas A&M. The Buckeyes took down the Aggies in a very close five sets. Ohio State went 21-25, 32-30, 21-25, 25-18, 15-13 to defeat Texas A&M and escape the North Texas Challenge undefeated.
Sandbothe rose to the challenge against A&M with a career-high 26 kills and 32 points. She was named the tournaments Most Valuable Player, which makes this the ninth straight non-conference event in which the Ohio State star received all-tourney accolades. After her performance this weekend, she is now a member of the 1,000 career kills club.
Sophomore Taylor Hughes also had an incredible weekend which included 13.9 kills and 26 digs in the victory over Texas A&M. Hughes had multiple service aces in all three games this weekend. Hughes and Valeria Leon were named to the All-Tournament team.

Ohio State women's volleyball will be returning to Columbus for the 12 Annual Sports Imports D.C. Kohl Classic in Nationwide Arena where the team will face LIU Brooklyn and Wyoming this Friday.
women's soccer Dominates in florida
The Ohio State women's soccer traveled down to Florida to face Miami and Florida Gulf Coast and came home on top. The team defeated Miami of Florida on Friday 2-1. Lindsay Agnew got things started for the Buckeyes, scoring in just the 11 minute of the game. Miami's Kristina Fisher score in the beginning of the second half to tie the game. In the 75 minute, Ohio State's Sammy Edwards scored the game winning goal for the Buckeyes.

On Sunday, the team traveled to Florida Gulf Coast for a 1-0 double overtime victory. Haley Walker-Robinson scored the game winning goal in the 108th minute of play with the help of an assist from Olympian Nichelle Prince. Jillian McVicker played 108 minutes of incredible defense and stopped Florida Gulf Coast from scoring just three minutes into the game. Head coach Lori Walker told Ohio State just how extremely proud she is of her team's performance.
"I am so proud of our team," Lori Walker, Ohio State head coach, said. "We battled a well-organized team for 108 long, hot minutes. We played from our hearts and as a team and it's been a great trip to Florida to collect two wins. The depth of our fitness and ability to rotate players made all of the difference. Our senior leadership carried us through to an emotional overtime win on the road."
After this weekend, the Buckeyes moved up to 19 in the country. The team has a challenging week ahead in which they will face number 12 Virginia Tech and number four West Virginia.
Men's soccer suffers two losses in opening weekend
The Ohio State men’s soccer team made their home debut last weekend in the annual Wolstein Classic at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. On Friday they took a double overtime 1-0 loss to Virginia Tech. It was a hard fought game that went scoreless until the 107 minute of double overtime when Virginia Tech’s Marcelo Acuna scored the game winning goal. On Sunday they took number 13 UC Santa Barbara to overtime but lost 1-0. The game, originally scheduled to start at 7:00 pm, didn’t start until 9:15 due to rain delays.
