The Buckeyes came from behind to win the conference title.
For a time, Ohio State women’s hockey’s WCHA title hopes looked dead with top-ranked Minnesota taking a 2-0 lead into the third period of Sunday afternoon's WCHA Final Faceoff championship game.
But the Buckeyes battled back.
Ohio State scored three unanswered goals, including an overtime game-winner from Buckeye star Sophie Jaques to beat No. 1 Minnesota 3-2 and claim the WCHA Tournament title.

This marks Ohio State's second-ever WCHA Tournament championship after the Buckeyes won the title back in 2020, but were unable to carry the momentum further into the postseason as the NCAA Tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Sunday night, the Buckeyes were selected as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, which means they will host first- and second-round games for the first time in program history. The Buckeyes will play either Syracuse or Quinnipiac in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. Saturday.
