Late Saturday night, after Iowa disposed of Michigan, Ohio State found out it would be the No. 7 seed in next week's Big Ten tournament regardless of the outcomes of Sunday's games around the league.
And after the first couple of league games ended Sunday, the Buckeyes officially found out their opening opponent. Ohio State will take on 10th-seeded Penn State at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The winner plays No. 2 seeded Michigan State on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
The Nittany Lions finished the regular-season 16-15 and 7-11 in the conference. Unquestionably, Penn State's two biggest wins of the Big Ten season came Feb. 6 over Indiana (68-63) and Feb. 17 against Iowa (79-75).
Ohio State and Penn State only met one time this season, way back on Jan. 25. The Buckeyes won that game at Value City Arena, 66-46.
Eleven Warriors will run a finalized version of the Big Ten tournament bracket once the final two league games are completed. Maryland at Indiana tips at 4:30 p.m. and Wisconsin at Purdue begins at 7:30 p.m.
