The Chris Holtmann era hasn't seen its first game yet, but behind closed doors, Ohio State is already off to a good start.

The Buckeyes made a trip to Cincinnati on Sunday to play a closed scrimmage against Xavier – a projected top-20 team – and came away with a victory, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

During halftime of the Ohio State football team's win over Penn State, Holtmann addressed the media and said that just more than a week before taking the court for the scrimmage against Wooster, he didn't have a full starting lineup in place. He added that the scrimmage against Xavier would give him a better idea of who would join a trio of veterans in the starting-five.

"I have felt like J.T. (Jae'Sean Tate) and Keita (Bates-Diop) will be in that," Holtmann said when discussing a starting-five. "I think C.J. Jackson will probably be in that, but we are still evaluating as a coaching staff. We will play with some lineups tomorrow (Sunday)."

The Buckeyes are set to open the season Nov. 10 against Robert Morris at home. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
