And then there were two.
Harvard's Seth Towns had upwards of 70 schools contact him after putting his name in the transfer portal a few weeks ago, and he'll make a decision between Ohio State and Duke, per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
On Monday, he tweeted that he plans to make a decision this week. Wherever he ends up, he'll be immediately eligible and is expected to have two years of eligibility remaining.
For Towns, ranked by ESPN as the nation's No. 1 available graduate transfer, the choice comes down to his hometown team or a powerhouse coached by Mike Krzyzewski.
The Buckeyes have been viewed as the frontrunner in the pursuit, but Duke's late involvement as a Towns suitor threatened to alter the expected outcome. The Blue Devils, a source told Eleven Warriors, initially contacted him less than a week ago.
A 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward, Towns hasn't played the past two seasons due to lingering effects from a knee injury suffered in the 2018 Ivy League championship game. He has needed multiple surgeries, the most recent of which took place in January.
When he's on the court, though, he's a force. As a sophomore at Harvard in 2017-18, he earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors for averaging 16 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 27.9 minutes per game.
Towns, a Columbus native, graduated from Northland High School. He chose Harvard out of high school over offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Butler, Purdue, Xavier, Iowa and others.
