The Ohio State basketball program is ready for a breakthrough.
Head coach Chris Holtmann achieved his highest NCAA tournament seed (No. 2) with the Buckeyes last season, and the team got to its first Big Ten tournament championship game in eight years. However, Ohio State has still not gotten past the second round of the Big Dance with Holtmann at the helm.
Heading into the 2021-22 season, Holtmann is dead set on taking the next step.
"We've established a level of success, but in terms of getting to that next step, whatever some of those next steps are, that's what we think about consistently," Holtmann said Thursday at Big Ten Media Days. "And ways to best prepare ourself to do that. It's a constant. There's no question there is a hunger for that, in some ways an obsession for that."
