Before descending upon Columbus, the members of Select '17 have one final shot at glory under the Friday night lights.
EASY PORTION OF THE SCHEDULE
Despite sleepwalking through the first quarter of Friday night's game against Spring Valley, Las Vegas, Nevada, Bishop Gorman maintained its undefeated season with a relatively easy 70-13 win. Ohio State quarterback commit Tate Martell threw for three touchdowns and ran two more before being replaced on the final drive of the first half.

“It took us a little bit to get going,” Bishop Gorman head coach Kenny Sanchez told the Las Vegas Sun, noting the 1-3 Grizzlies did something nationally ranked St. Thomas Aquinas did not do the week before. “But I credit a lot of that to Spring Valley. They forced our first-team offense to punt and scored on our first-team defense.”
Having faced teams from California, Florida, Hawai'i and Texas so far this season, Bishop Gorman will only face in-state foes from hereon out. The Gaels are riding a 46-game winning streak and look to capture their eighth-consecutive state championship and second-straight national title.
BEST TEAM IN OHIO?
Colerain notched its 500th win in program history on Friday night with a 47-8 win over Middletown. The Cardinals are the 56th program in the state to reach that milestone, with their first win dating back to 1935.
Former Coach Kerry Coombs @OsuCoachCoombs and current Head Coach @CoachTomBolden account for half of the 500 wins between the two of them.

Ohio State defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs leads Colerain with 161 wins as a head coach, while Tom Bolden recorded his 103 career win against Middletown.
Buckeyes' cornerback commit Amir Riep was not targeted on Friday, and the Cardinals' defense held the Middies to a season low 157 total yards and minus-16 yards rushing.
Colerain has now won 56-consecutive Greater Miami Conference Games and is considered the 14th-best team in the country by USA TODAY Sports.
RED FLAGS IN THE SAND
Neither second-ranked IMG Academy nor No. 8 St. Thomas Aquinas played on Friday night because of the threat of Hurricane Matthew in Florida. In fact, high schools from the east coast of Florida as far north as Virginia either postponed or cancelled their games.
IMG had been scheduled to host Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Southern Lab, while Aquinas was set to face Deerfield Beach.
“With the impending hurricane and our Governor telling people to evacuate this morning, they felt [and we agreed] that it was too much a risk for them,” IMG coach Kevin Wright told USA Today Sports.
The teams are working on rescheduling. Aquinas, however, will not make up the game because it is not a district contest.
