Before descending upon Columbus, the members of Select '17 have one final shot at glory under the Friday night lights.

CHECK THE RESUME

With its shot at a second-consecutive undefeated season slipping away, Bradenton, Florida, IMG Academy scored 16 unanswered fourth quarter points to rally for a 16-6 win over Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bishop Sullivan on Saturday night.

The game was part of the Under Armour Brothers in Arms Classic, with all proceeds helping fund college scholarships for the dependents of military members killed in action.

Bishop Sullivan dominated from the start, taking the opening drive 80 yards for a touchdown. But the game turned in the fourth quarter when the Crusaders opted to go for it on 4th-and-4 from their own 19-yard line.

The Ascenders came up with the stop, and Texas A&M quarterback commit Kellen Mond scored on a one-yard touchdown run just four plays later.

Trailing 7-6, Bishop Sullivan drove down the field and into the red zone. Instead of kicking the field goal - their kicker missed an extra point earlier in the contest - the Crusaders opted to go for it again on fourth down from the IMG 9-yard line.

One play after the turnover on downs, Mond hit a wide-open receiver for a 91-yard touchdown to give the Ascenders an eight-point lead.

IMG, which outscored opponents 385-98 and posted five shutouts the season, added two more points on a safety in the final minute of the game.

MAKE IT HAPPEN

The only other team in the country with a resume comparable to IMG Academy is Las Vegas, Nevada, Bishop Gorman. The Gaels have wins overs four nationally ranked, out-of-state opponents, all of which remain in the hunt for their respective state titles.

Bishop Gorman also won its 85th-straight game over an in-state opponent on Friday night, knocking off Faith Lutheran, 58-10.

Ohio State quarterback commit Tate Martell threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score, while defensive tackle pledge Haskell Garrett added a sack and a safety to help the Gaels roll.

All that stands between the program and its eighth-consecutive state title is two more seemingly overmatched opponents. And if Bishop Gorman makes it through unscathed, it would likely be crowned the mythical national champion for the third-straight year.

So then why not have one final game in December between Bishop Gorman and IMG to decide which program is really the best in the country?

Though rumors have been floating for months, the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association’s Board of Control won't allow schools to play national games after the state playoffs have ended.

COMEBACK SEASON

Hyattsville, Maryland, DeMatha trailed by as much as 15 points on Saturday afternoon, but rallied in the final seven minutes to knock off St. John's, 34-29, and capture its fourth-consecutive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title.

The most bizarre sequence of the game came shortly after DeMatha cut the lead to 8 with just over five minutes remaining.

With St. John's expecting an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff, the Stags kicked it deep and recovered at the 1-yard line. They scored two plays later, but could not convert the two-point try to tie the game.

After a three-and-out gave the ball back to DeMatha, the Stags marched down the field and scored the game-winner on an 18-yard touchdown pass with just over one minute remaining.

Ohio State defensive end commit Chase Young, who had a momentum-changing sack in the fourth-quarter, ends his high school career with a 43-5 record.
