Ohio State three-star running back commit Master Teague III may miss the remainder of his senior season as his father told Eleven Warriors he’s set to undergo surgery on his left ankle on Wednesday.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Teague suffered the injury in Mufreesboro, Tennessee, Blackman’s rain-soaked win over Coffee County earlier this month. He finished the game, but was held out for much of the next two weeks as he tried to recover in time for the Blaze’s highly anticipated matchup with Oakland on Friday.
Teague returned and rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns, but was limited in the second half of the 42-21 loss to the Patriots.
Teague has been diagnosed with a peroneal tendon subluxation, a condition in which the tendon snaps out of place. He will be in a cast for two weeks and a walking boot for rehab thereafter. Teague's father also told Eleven Warriors that his son's work ethic won't allow for a slow recovery. There’s hope that he could return this season if the Blaze advance deep in the playoffs, but that is still to be determined.
Teague, who rushed for 711 yards and 10 touchdowns in a little over four games this year, will be fully recovered by the time he steps on campus in January.
