Ohio State's top remaining target in the 2024 class is ready to make a decision.
Five-star California offensive tackle Brandon Baker has scheduled his commitment for 9 p.m. ET on Sept. 24, his birthday. His commitment will be broadcast by 247Sports' Youtube page.
Baker took official visits to Ohio State, Texas and Georgia in June and visited Oregon several times unofficially. He also has an official visit scheduled to Nebraska for Sept. 16. Heading into the decision, the Buckeyes and Longhorns are seen as the likeliest destinations for the Mater Dei product.
“I liked all my visits but Ohio State was probably my favorite one,” Baker told 247Sports. “I just really like the coaches there, coach (Ryan) Day and I’m very close with coach (Justin) Frye. He might be the offensive line coach I’m closest with and I really like the plan they have in place for me.”
Baker is considered the 21st overall prospect and the top offensive tackle in the entire 2024 class by 247Sports’ composite rankings. If the 6-foot-5, 285-pound Baker joins OSU's class, he'd be the crown jewel of an offensive line corps that already boasts Ian Moore, Devontae and Deontae Armstrong and Marc Nave. OSU is also still in pursuit of four-star offensive lineman Jordan Seaton, who's expected to take an official visit to Columbus later this fall.
