Another player in the transfer portal has his eye on Ohio State.
Cal linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr told 247Sports this week he plans to take an official visit to Ohio State this weekend, the first linebacker in the transfer market to do so this offseason.
“I will be visiting (Ohio State) this week,” Elarms-Orr told 247Sports. “Coach (James) Laurinaitis is the main one recruiting me (for Ohio State).”
Elarms-Orr spent three seasons at Cal and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker played in 11 games last season for the Golden Bears and collected 92 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery and six quarterback hits. He also recorded one interception and five pass breakups.
Ohio State will lose linebacker Tommy Eichenberg and potentially Steele Chambers after the 2023 season, as Eichenberg has accepted a Senior Bowl Invite. Chambers does have one season of eligibility remaining but did participate in the Buckeyes senior day ceremony in the home finale against Minnesota. OSU also awaits a decision from Cody Simon on whether he'll return for an additional year. That said, Elarms-Orr could become a major depth piece for the Buckeyes' linebacker corps, which will also include C.J. Hicks, Gabe Powers and Nigel Glover, among others.
