Ohio State has offered the nephew of Kobe Bryant.

Safeties coach Matt Guerrieri offered four-star Las Vegas safety Jett Washington on Monday, making him the ninth safety the Buckeyes have offered in the 2026 class. Washington has visited OSU twice, with each visit coming in the spring, but hasn't returned since. That could change following the offer, though.

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Washington is considered the 67th-best prospect in the 2026 cycle. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound prospect has earned more than 20 Division I offers, including Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, San Diego State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UNLV and Washington.

As you might expect from the nephew of the late Bryant (Washington’s mother is Bryant’s sister), he’s also a standout basketball player. On the football field, Washington also occasionally plays wide receiver.

In his sophomore year, Washington recorded 37 tackles and two interceptions defensively.

Zahir Mathis confirms official visit for Nebraska game

Ohio State four-star 2025 defensive end commit Zahir Mathis has confirmed his official visit plans for this fall. The Pennsylvania product announced he’ll be back in Columbus for the Buckeyes’ game against Nebraska on Oct. 26.

Mathis has visited Penn State several times since committing to OSU on Jan. 10 and the Nittany Lions are continuing to challenge the Buckeyes for his commitment. But Mathis taking a visit to Columbus is a good sign and will give Larry Johnson a prime chance to increase his bond with the top-65 prospect.

OSU could be in a fight to keep Mathis all the way through National Signing Day, so knocking the visit out of the park will likely be crucial for the Buckeyes.

Maxwell Hiller will visit OSU on Oct. 26

One of the top offensive tackles in the 2027 class is expected to make an unofficial visit to Ohio State soon. Five-star prospect Maxwell Hiller told Rivals this week he plans on taking a trip to Columbus for the Buckeyes’ contest against Nebraska in October. He’s also taking gameday visits to Penn State and Auburn this fall and has already visited Maryland.

"I’m super pumped to be there," Hiller told Rivals about OSU. "It's a huge blessing and it’s a championship organization."

Hiller was offered by OSU earlier this month and is ranked as the No. 29 prospect and the No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2027 class.

Brady Edmunds moves up official visit

Ohio State’s top quarterback target in the 2027 class has altered his visit plans. Five-star quarterback Brady Edmunds was originally scheduled to visit Columbus for the Buckeyes’ game against Nebraska in October, but instead, he’ll be at Ohio Stadium for next week’s game against the Iowa Hawkeyes, per 247Sports.

Edmunds released a top four earlier this month consisting of Ohio State, Texas, Penn State and Michigan, but the 6-foot-5, 200-pound signal-caller from California also plans on visiting UCLA this weekend.

The five-star Edmunds is considered the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 2 quarterback in the 2027 class. He earned his OSU offer on June 6 following an impressive recruiting camp performance in front of Ryan Day and Chip Kelly. As a freshman, Edmunds threw for 2,691 yards and 24 touchdowns.
