Ever since Urban Meyer admitted to "discussions" on Ohio State playing in a regular season neutral site game, the speculation on possible foes has run rampant. One, in particular though, garnered more tract than others: The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
Smith, who admitted in September 2013 he asks Notre Dame for a game "every year," would still welcome a clash between the two traditional midwestern powers and is still on that hunt, according to Buckeye Sports Bulletin's Jeff Svoboda:
I would love to have that opportunity down the road.
Smith stresses nothing is imminent, and Svoboda points out Ohio State's schedule is full through 2016 and features prominent programs in out-of-conference scheduling all the way through Texas in 2021.
Notre Dame hasn't beaten Ohio State in football since 1936.
