J.T. Barrett is having a strong year. He has won Big Ten Freshman of the Week several times this year, and a few weeks ago he won Athlon Sports' National Freshman of the Week award for his play against Maryland. This week he is receiving even greater recognition, earning Week 11 National Player of the Week honors from Athlon.
Against a stingy Michigan State defense, Barrett threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 83 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He led Ohio State to a 49-37 victory, the school's first win over a top-10 team since the 2010 Rose Bowl.
Congrats to JT Barrett on being named Athlon Sports National Player of the Week

Athlon's announcement had some kind words for Barrett's performance:
Barrett had big shoes to fill in August with the season-ending shoulder injury to quarterback Braxton Miller. After a slow start to the season, the redshirt freshman clearly looks like a rising star at quarterback and is someone who has mastered Meyer and coordinator Tom Herman’s system in a very short amount of time.
All in all, the trip to East Lansing was wildly successful for J.T. Barrett. Might his performance on Saturday night catapult him into national prominence?
