Former OSU QB/current BTN analyst Stanley Jackson appeared today on Washington DC's 106.7's "The Sports Junkies" to talk everything related to Ohio State football.
Jackson appears during the 3:20-11:45 mark:
Some quick hits:
- Jackson thinks J.T. Barrett will get the nod, despite Cardale being the better NFL prospect. He credits Cardale's postseason performance to everyone else around Cardale raising their games when J.T. went down.
- "I'm old school. I don't think a guy should lose his job to injury, even going into the next year."
- Urban Meyer is telling "them" to pump their brakes on Braxton Miller-to-H, and that he hasn't made that call.
- The only reason Braxton Miller made the move, in Jackson's mind, is because "he can't make every throw." If everyone were healthy, Urban would choose Braxton.
- "Urban Meyer's not the kind of coach likes to throw it all over the place. That was Tom Herman, who's down in Houston now. Urban would much rather run the football, slow the game down a little bit, and play great defense — similar to the things he did with Tim Tebow — and then hit you over the top."
- Jackson is "not surprised" by Terrelle Pryor's move to WR. "He's got that big wind up; he loses accuracy at times; it's tough to play in the NFL when you can't be consistent throwing the ball." Jackson, however, thinks Pryor will make the Browns if they're patient with him.
- "It's better to make some money than to find yourself like me at home trying to figure it out and having to go work at a bank or something... You might as well do what you love and try to make some money playing football."
Jackson is fluid, thoughtful, and candid throughout the interview. Easy to see why he's one of many Ohio State footballers rising the media ranks these days.
