CHICAGO — Ohio State fans are going to have to wait a bit to find out who the starting quarterback will be this season. Head coach Urban Meyer announced Thursday at Big Ten Media Days he has no intention of naming a starter prior to the Buckeyes' season-opener at Virginia Tech on Sept. 7.

"The first guy that jogs out at Blacksburg will be the starting quarterback," Meyer said, according to Sports Illustrated's Brian Hamilton.

Back in April, Meyer said he had hoped to have an idea on who the starter would be by the middle of fall camp.

"I think the middle of training camp because every one of them deserves that opportunity," Meyer said on the Big Ten spring teleconference. "By the middle of training camp, I think you have to have at least a handle on this thing."

That, of course, was when things were going to be between Braxton Miller, Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett. Now, after Miller's recent decision to move to wide receiver and the quarterback battle down to to, it appears those plans have changed.
