The only way Ohio State and Iowa play this season is if both make the Big Ten championship in Indianapolis. But according to one straw poll, Iowa players wish the matchup was guaranteed.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette polled 17 Hawkeye football players, ranging from redshirt freshmen to seniors, on various preseason storylines and burritos.
One question The Gazette asked is which team not on their schedule they'd like to play. Ohio State ran away with the voting.
TEAM | VOTES |
---|---|
OHIO STATE | 11 |
ALABAMA | 2 |
LSU | 1 |
MICHIGAN STATE | 1 |
OLE MISS | 1 |
STANFORD | 1 |
Stanford open-hand smacked Iowa by 29 points on national TV, so I'm not sure if it's surprising or unsurprising only one Hawkeye wants a rematch. Still, all Iowa must do is repeat the wild Big Ten West and hope the Buckeyes also handle their business.
Iowa kicks off its season Sept. 3 at home against Miami University. The Big Ten championship game is Dec. 3.
