The roster move comes a week after Marshall had been activated from a 4-game suspension for using banned substances.
After going undrafted and signing with the Jets, Marshall caught 14 balls for 162 yards and two scores, though he made the most impact last season as a returner.
Marshall averaged nearly 25 yards a kick return and returned 18 punts for 100 yards.
If Marshall clears waivers and isn't claimed, the Jets are planning to add him to their practice squad, though.
The #Jets plan to add Jalin Marshall to the practice squad, if he clears waivers, I'm told. https://t.co/TFB9vzlUzi
