For the second time in his Ohio State career, J.T. Barrett has been named a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.
Barrett, who was previously a finalist for the award in 2014, was named one of five finalists for this year's award on Thursday, along with USC running back Ronald Jones II, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham and Oklahoma State wide receiver James Washington.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which was established in 2013, recognizes the top offensive player who was either born in Texas, played high school football in Texas or plays college football in Texas. This is the first year that no players from Texas colleges are finalists for the award, which Texas running back D'Onta Foreman won last year.
Mayfield, who is also the favorite to win this year's Heisman Trophy, was previously a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award in 2015 and 2016.
Barrett, who was named last week as the Big Ten Quarterback of the Year, is also a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, along with Mayfield and Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph, which will be presented at ESPN's Home Depot Awards on Thursday night.
