About one month removed from suffering a spinal injury in a Monday Night Football game, former Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier has regained feeling in his legs, his father Vernon said in a televised interview with WPXI on Thursday.
Shazier was unable to feel his legs after suffering the injury on Dec. 4, which required him to undergo spinal stabilization surgery on Dec. 6. Shazier's father did not say Thursday whether or not Shazier has been able to walk since his injury, but he did say that his son is "making progress daily."
"He's a long way from where he was on that Monday night when he was laying on the field," Vernon Shazier said. "He's much better. We've agreed to keep his progress private until he's ready to share where he's at."
Although his son still has a long road in front of him, Vernon also said he does believe Ryan could play in the NFL again.
"I Shalieve," Vernon said. "I Shalieve."
