A redshirt sophomore, Davis had three remaining seasons of eligibility at Ohio State. That said, he was one of five sophomore safeties on the Buckeyes' roster, and he appeared to be at the back end of the pecking order among them.
Davis arrived at Ohio State as a four-star recruit out of Norfolk, Virginia, but barely saw the field in his first two years on campus, appearing in just two games with only 10 defensive snaps as a redshirt freshman last season.
With Davis' departure, the Buckeyes are now set to have seven safeties on their roster this fall: junior Jordan Fuller, redshirt sophomore Jahsen Wint, true sophomores Isaiah Pryor, Amir Riep and Brendon White and true freshmen Josh Proctor and Marcus Hooker.
Davis' departure brings the Buckeyes down to 85 scholarships for the 2018 season.
