Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye. Across the Shield follows those who once wore Scarlet and Gray on their journeys through the NFL.

Welcome back to Across the Shield, your weekly recap of how former Buckeyes performed in the National Football League each week. I'll be your new host, as Kevin has moved on to Skull Sessions and whatnot. Let's get it started.

DeVier Posey Return?

DeVier Posey caught a touchdown this week. A Cincinnati native, the 28-year-old is attempting an NFL comeback after spending the past two seasons in the Canadian Football League. Now, however, he is performing pretty well in the preseason for the Baltimore Ravens in hopes of making the roster.

Posey finished with two catches for 31 yards and that score. The Ravens won 27-10 over Raekwon McMillan (1 tackle), Jerome Baker (6 tackles), and the Dolphins.

A Comeback of His Own

After suffering a torn ACL in the preseason last year, Raekwon McMillan is attempting to rebound and return to the field for the Miami Dolphins, and here is a nice video regarding said comeback.

As mentioned above, the former second-round pick had a tackle in his most recent game against Baltimore.

Injury Updates

A couple Buckeyes have been missing time with injuries, most notably Indianapolis Colts linebacker John Simon and Minnesota Vikings center Pat Elflein. After Simon exited the Colts last preseason game with a neck injury, they naturally feared the worst, but luckily, coach Frank Reich just called him "day-to-day."

Elflein's situation, on the other hand, is a little bit more confusing. Despite not having practiced all offseason, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer insists that Elflein will not start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, which would mean that he'd have to miss the first six games of the year.

The Vikings, however, announced yesterday that they have acquired Giants center Brett Jones via trade.

Jones started 13 games last season at center, and while it is possible that he could potentially play guard, it is more likely just insurance at the center position since the Vikings feel less-than-confident about Elflein's ability to be ready for the start of the season.

Michael Thomas' Cryptic Tweet of the Week

For those of you who read the weekly tweets roundup, you know that Michael Thomas and his cryptic tweets always made an appearance. With a new intern set to take over that feature, I decided to keep the tradition alive and will now be posting Thomas' best cryptic tweets in here weekly to conclude the segment.
