Midway through the 2018 regular season, we here at 11W have been pleasantly surprised as to how much real estate in this weekly feature has been dedicated to the passing game. In the first five weeks, three of the winners and 11 of the 16 Top Play nominees have come courtesy of the Buckeye aerial attack, and after Dwayne Haskins came within three yards of Ohio State's single-game passing mark last weekend, all four of this week's candidates are touchdown passes as well.
While there has been much hand-wringing within Buckeye nation about the running game and pass defense, it's almost easy to forget how much this team has changed in one season. So for just a few minutes, sit back and enjoy some the OSU passing game's finest work to date (and don't forget to vote below):
Nominee #1) Dwayne Haskins drops a 39-yard pass right into the hands of Johnnie Dixon
Nominee #2) Parris Campbell races 71 yards untouched to open the second half scoring
Nominee #3) Haskins hooks up with Touchdown Terry McLaurin on an 18-yard corner route
Nominee #4) Binjimen Victor gets both feet down in the back corner of the end zone
THIS SEASON'S WINNERS SO FAR:
- Week 1: Touchdown Terry McLaurin races 75 yards for the score
- Week 2: Tate Martell's 47-yard touchdown run
- Week 3: Dre'Mont Jones picks off a shovel pass to put OSU up 26-21
- Week 4: Austin Mack adjusts in the air to haul in a spectacular back-shoulder catch for six
- Week 5: Binjimen Victor zig-zags through the entire PSU defense for a 47-yard score
