Former Ohio State co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Alex Grinch's new job as Oklahoma's defensive coordinator is coming with a significant raise.
According to a report by Bill Haisten of the Tulsa World, Grinch "will be paid a sum ranging from $1.3 million to $1.5 million" by Oklahoma, making him the Sooners' highest-paid assistant coach ever.
Grinch was paid a salary of $800,000, plus a $250,000 signing bonus to cover his buyout from his previous job as Washington State's defensive coordinator, for his lone season at Ohio State.
Per Haisten's report, Grinch's contract terms are expected to be officially released by Oklahoma during the university's board of regents meetings later this month (Jan. 29-30).
