Second quarter explosions have become the routine for the Buckeyes, and Ohio State did it again on Saturday night.
The Buckeyes led Northwestern just 7-3 at the end of the first quarter, but they exploded for 24 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a commanding lead into halftime.

According the the BTN broadcast, Ohio State is the highest-scoring second-quarter team in the country, and this marks the sixth-straight game the Buckeyes have put up at least 21 points in the second quarter.
The only time Ohio State failed to hit that mark, the Buckeyes just started their big quarter a little early. In the season opener, Florida Atlantic outscored the Buckeyes 3-0 in the second quarter after Ohio State outscored the Owls 28-0 in the first.
