Ohio State Freshman Cornerback Lejond Cavazos Sheds Black Stripe

Back to the field after an undisclosed injury sidelined him for the start of his first season in Columbus, cornerback Lejond Cavazos became the 24th member of Ohio State's freshman class to lose his black stripe on Tuesday. 

"I want to thank God and my family," Cavazos told his teammates as Sevyn Banks took the stripe of the first-year cornerback's helmet. "And shoutout to BIA – they're making me a lot better. And Zone 6 also. I want to say shoutout to coach (Kerry) Coombs. Appreciate you for brining me in. And go Bucks.

Cavazos, a true freshman from Texas, came to Ohio State via IMG Academy in Florida where he wrapped up his high school career. Listed at 6 feet and 195 pounds, he held offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, USC and others as the No. 352 recruit in his class.

Jacolbe Cowan, a defensive lineman from North Carolina, is the only true freshman who has a black stripe on his helmet. He appears to be dealing with an injury, though, since he hasn't dressed for games.
