The Buckeyes are still the No. 4 team in the country, at least for now.
Ohio State bolstered its position as a top-four team this weekend with a lopsided 52-12 win over Michigan State on Saturday and retained its No. 4 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings this week.
However, it's not quite smooth sailing for the Buckeyes yet, as a canceled game against Michigan potentially sets up a little drama going forward with Ohio State now having only five regular season games and not qualifying for the Big Ten championship game under the current conference rules.
For now, though, Ohio State is among the College Football Playoff committee's top-four teams, and it's worth noting that the committee has said that it will not require a minimum number of games for teams to qualify.
In front of the Buckeyes, the top three remain the same with Alabama leading the way, followed by No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Clemson.
If the Big Ten elects to change its six-game minimum requirement for the Big Ten title game or the Buckeyes are able to find a replacement opponent for this weekend, Ohio State would play No. 14 Northwestern in the Big Ten championship on Dec. 19. Otherwise, the Buckeyes' Dec. 19 opponent is still up in the air.
