A five-star recruit out of Jacksonville's Trinity Christian Academy, Johnson never saw much playing time during his three years at Ohio State. He played just 77 snaps last season, and was projected to be a reserve cornerback again this year, with Sevyn Banks, Cameron Brown and Ryan Watts likely to lead the depth chart at that position.
Going to Nebraska, however, will give Johnson an opportunity to revitalize his career. He's expected to compete for the starting cornerback spot opposite returning starter Cam Taylor-Britt in the Cornhuskers' secondary.
He'll be immediately eligible to play at Nebraska now that the one-time transfer exception have been expanded to all sports, and he still has three more years of collegiate eligibility thanks to the NCAA giving all players a free year of eligibility in 2020.
Johnson will face his former team when the Cornhuskers host Ohio State on Nov. 6 in Lincoln.
