Jeremy Ruckert has officially been nominated as one of college football's best tight ends entering the 2021 season.
The Ohio State senior was one of 56 tight ends named Friday to the John Mackey Award watch list, which honors college football's best tight end.
Through the first three years of his Ohio State career, Ruckert – who will be among the three Buckeye players meeting with reporters at Big Ten Media Days on Friday afternoon – has caught 28 passes for 306 yards and nine touchdowns. After sharing snaps with Luke Farrell over the past few years, Ruckert is set to be Ohio State's clear-cut No. 1 tight end in 2021.
He's the fifth Ohio State player to be named to a preseason watch list this week, joining wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson – who were named to both the Maxwell Award and Biletnikoff Award watch lists – and defensive linemen Zach Harrison and Haskell Garrett, who were both nominated for the Chuck Bednarik Award.
