Garrett Wilson and C.J. Stroud’s big games against Purdue have earned them both recognition from the Big Ten.
Wilson earned Big Ten co-offensive player of the week honors after catching a season-high 10 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns and running for a 51-yard touchdown in Ohio State’s 59-31 win over Purdue, becoming the first player in school history to catch three touchdown passes and run for a touchdown in the same game.

It’s the first time Wilson has earned Big Ten offensive player of the week honors in his career. It’s the third time a Buckeye has won Big Ten offensive player of the week honors this year, joining running back TreVeyon Henderson, who was named co-offensive player of the week after he ran for a freshman-record 270 yards against Tulsa, and Stroud, who earned co-offensive player of the week honors after he threw for 406 yards and five touchdowns against Maryland.
Wilson splits this week’s Big Ten offensive player of the week award with Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen, who rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns in the Badgers’ win over Northwestern.
Stroud is the Big Ten’s freshman of the week for the sixth time this season after he completed 31 of 38 passing attempts for 361 yards and five touchdowns against the Boilermakers.

His win marks the eighth time in 10 games that an Ohio State player has won the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award this year. Buckeyes won the award after each of Ohio State’s first seven games this season; Stroud won it for his performances in five of those games, while Henderson won it after the Tulsa game and McCord won the award after he filled in for Stroud against Akron.
