Brian Hartline has always made Kojo Antwi a priority.
As the Buckeyes were preparing to take on Clemson in the 2020 College Football Playoff semifinal, Ohio State's receivers coach wasn't just getting his unit ready for one of the biggest games of their career, he was focusing his attention on the future, as well.
Just over an hour before kickoff, Hartline did something Antwi wouldn't soon forget, FaceTiming the talented receiver prospect from the Superdome.
The Antwi File

- Composite Rating: ★★★★
- Composite Rank: 146 (23 WR)
“It was crazy. I wasn’t really expecting him to do that,” Antwi told Eleven Warriors in January. “He texted me at first, and he was just asking if I could get on the phone with him. I was like, ‘really?’ They’re about to play the semifinals game so I was really surprised when he texted me that. Just getting on the phone with him was great."
As if the action alone didn't communicate Antwi's importance to Hartline, his words during the call sure did.
"He was telling me that I’m a big priority, that I’m the one that he wants and stuff like that. He’s always fired up when he’s talking to me and in a good mood and stuff like that,” Antwi said. “Coach Hartline is a great dude. He recruits the best, and he’s one of the best receivers coaches in the country. Just trying to be a part of that, you know?”
After signing his letter of intent to Ohio State on Wednesday, Antwi got his wish – he's now officially a part of one of the best wide receivers units in the country led by an elite coach that he believes in. But perhaps even more importantly, Hartline believes in him, too.

“Coach Hartline said he would coach the heck outta me,” Antwi told Eleven Warriors shortly after Ohio State offered him a scholarship. “He said he’s all about getting his guys to the next level.”
Hartline's relentless pursuit of Antwi was for good reason. Antwi is rated as the No. 23 receiver and No. 146 player in the 2022 recruiting class and would be an explosive and versatile weapon in any offense – especially a potent aerial attack like Ohio State's
Though he primarily lined up outside at the high school level, Antwi has the skillset to play any receiver position on the field, much like his future teammates Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Emeka Egbuka. He has the speed to get behind defenders and beat them deep and turn screen passes into big plays. He uses his strength to fight through press-man coverage, and he has exceptional hands to top it off.
Antwi is a complete player who will find a way to make an impact wherever he's placed on the field. It's easy to see why Hartline made him such a priority in the class.
