After winning the starting job at Ohio State's free safety position – at least for the time being – Josh Proctor is questionable to play against Youngstown State Saturday.
Proctor recorded four tackles with one tackle for loss and a pass breakup against Indiana in Week 1, the interrupted throw resulting in a turnover on downs as the Hoosiers were going for it on 4th-and-4 late in the fourth quarter.
If Proctor does not play, true freshman Malik Hartford could be in line to make his first career start after finishing out Ohio State’s season opener at free safety. Syracuse transfer Ja’Had Carter could also be an option to start at free safety after competing for the starting job in preseason camp.
During the contest, freshman Arvell Reese suffered an injury on a first-quarter kickoff and will not return.
Outside of Proctor, all of Ohio State's expected key contributors are healthy for the team's lone FCS matchup of the season. Jayden Bonsu, T.C. Caffey and Joop Mitchell are no longer on the availability report after being listed as out against Indiana.
Second-year receiver Kyion Grayes is among those that remain sidelined, as is former captain Kourt Williams II, who is expected to miss the entire season with a torn ACL.
Although not listed on the availability report, Ohio State defensive end Omari Abor is also expected to be out with a long-term injury.
