Ohio State fell a spot in the AP Poll but stood pat in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll following its 35-7 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday.
The Buckeyes remained at No. 4 in the Coaches Poll but fell to No. 6 in the AP Poll despite Alabama’s loss to Texas — with the Crimson Tide entering the week at No. 3 in both polls. Instead of climbing the rankings, Ohio State was jumped by Florida State in the coaches poll and fell below Texas and USC in the AP Poll on Sunday.
Ohio State sits behind Georgia, Michigan and Florida State in the Coaches Poll. In the AP Poll, the Bulldogs, Wolverines and Seminoles held the top three slots while Texas rose seven spots to claim the No. 4 ranking with USC and Ohio State following at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Outside of the Wolverines and Buckeyes, the Big Ten was represented by Penn State and Iowa in both polls. The Nittany Lions stood pat in both polls, remaining at No. 7 after a 63-7 blowout of FCS-level Delaware on Saturday. Iowa jumped into the rankings at No. 24 in the Coaches Poll and No. 25 in the AP Poll after beating in-state rival Iowa State 20-13 Saturday. Wisconsin, who held the No. 19 spot in both the AP and Coaches Poll entering the week, fell out of both polls after a 31-22 loss at Washington State.
Beyond the Nittany Lions and Wolverines, Ohio State has one future opponent ranked in both polls with Notre Dame sitting at No. 11 in the Coaches Poll and No. 9 in the AP Poll after its 45-24 drubbing of North Carolina State.
