Noah Rogers is returning to his old neighborhood.

The former Ohio State wide receiver committed to transfer to NC State on Thursday.

The No. 53 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports composite, Rogers appeared in four games and received 14 snaps as a true freshman, recording zero catches. He still has all four years of eligibility after taking a redshirt year.

Before Rogers' commitment to the Buckeyes in June 2022, the Wolfpack heavily recruited him out of Rolesville High School in Raleigh, North Carolina.

While Rogers had the upside to become an impact player for Ohio State in the future, it was unclear whether that would occur in 2024, as fellow second-year wide receivers Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss are considered candidates to step into starting roles with the Buckeyes next season. Incoming freshmen Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham, the No. 1 and No. 23 overall prospects in the 2024 class, also have the potential to play significant roles in their first year on campus.

Following Rogers’ departure – and the departure of his classmate, Bryson Rodgers, who entered the transfer portal on Sunday – Tate and Inniss are the two wide receivers in Ohio State's 2023 class still on the roster. It’s the second year in a row in a four-receiver recruiting class shrunk down to two players in one season, as 2022 signees Kaleb Brown and Caleb Burton transferred from Ohio State last spring.

Rogers was the 18th Ohio State player to enter the transfer portal after the regular season.

Former Buckeyes who have transferred to new teams include quarterback Kyle McCord (Syracuse), running backs Evan Pryor (Cincinnati) and Chip Trayanum (Kentucky), wide receiver Julian Fleming (Penn State), centers Victor Cutler Jr. (Louisville) and Jakob James (Toledo), defensive end Omari Abor (SMU), linebacker Reid Carrico (West Virginia), cornerback Ryan Turner (Boston College), safeties Kye Stokes (Cincinnati) and Cameron Martinez (Boston College) and punter Jesse Mirco (Vanderbilt).

As it stands, Rodgers, defensive tackle Jaden McKenzie, tight end Joe Royer, cornerback Jyaire Brown and kicker Parker Lewis are the five Buckeyes who are still in the portal.
