Garrett Wilson is G5 once again.

After the former Ohio State wide receiver announced via Twitter in April that he planned to switch back to No. 5 in 2024 after wearing No. 17 for the past two seasons, the number change became official Monday night when New York Jets punter Thomas Morstead – who wore No. 5 this season – officially passed the number on to Wilson.

Wilson previously wore No. 5 for all three of his seasons at Ohio State, where he caught 143 passes for 2,213 yards and 23 touchdowns from 2019-21. He earned first-team All-American honors in his final season as a Buckeye, catching 70 passes for 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns before going on to be drafted by the Jets with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

The former Buckeye star has lived up to the hype in his first two seasons in the Big Apple. He earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2022 after catching 83 passes for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns in his first NFL season. He backed that up by catching 95 passes for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns in his sophomore season.

Now, he’ll look to continue that success while wearing the same number he donned in his rise to stardom at Ohio State and Lake Travis High School.
