It's been five years since Gareon Conley last took the field for an NFL team, but he'll get another shot to do so in 2024.

The Dallas Cowboys signed the former Ohio State cornerback to their team on Tuesday, scooping him up from the ranks of the UFL.

Conley played for the Buckeyes from 2013 through 2016 before declaring for the 2017 NFL draft off a four-interception redshirt junior campaign. The then-Oakland Raiders selected him with the 24th overall pick in the first round of that draft.

Relative to that selection, Conley's NFL career didn't go to plan. He broke out in his second season, racking up 15 pass breakups and three interceptions in 2018, before being dealt to the Houston Texans during the 2019 season. He recorded 50 tackles, 13 pass breakups and a pick between both teams in 2019.

Then an ankle injury took away his 2020 campaign and the Texans declined to pick up his option, leaving him as a free agent in 2021. Conley has been out of the NFL since that time, but resumed his football career this spring with the UFL's DC Defenders.

Conley played seven games with the Defenders and recorded 25 tackles with two interceptions and five PBUs, enough to catch the Cowboys' attention and land him a renewed chance at an NFL roster.
