Presser Bullets: Ryan Day Says Tyleik Williams "Day-to-Day" for Ohio State, Quinshon Judkins Has "Great Attitude"

What ultimately became another blowout for Ohio State didn't come without hiccups.

Marshall found some offensive gains through its air raid scheme and quarterback run play, scoring the first two touchdowns the Buckeyes' defense has allowed all season. Special teams had two kickoffs go out of bounds and would have had a muffed punt for a turnover if not for a play-erasing penalty.

Overall, Ohio State did find dominance running the ball, in explosive offense and in some other areas defensively, however. Day addressed the media on that and the status of defensive tackle Tyleik Williams after the contest.

  • On the up-tempo offense: "We wanted to play fast today, we felt like that was the right approach. ... We don't always play that way because we don't want to put the defense in a bad position. ... But I thought we had a good tempo to us on offense."
  • Tyleik Williams is "day-to-day" after missing the game with injury.
  • Day called Ohio State's out-of-bounds kickoffs "completely ridiculous" and felt a change necessary at kicker after too many of them.
  • On the defense: "Marshall did a nice job with their style of play, which is spreading you out, plus-one, running with the quarterback. ... There's gonna be a lot of things that we watch on this film that we won't be happy with. ... We did do some good things."
  • Day was miffed with his unsportsmanlike conduct foul. "I guess I yelled too loud."
  • Day complimented Ohio State's perimeter blocking on its screen and running game, and felt it provided a lot of horizontal stretch for the offense. "I thought the running backs ran hard, and when you have the ability with Will to pull it it just changes the numbers. ... I thought Chip (Kelly) again called a good game.
  • On the running backs: "All three of them, I've gotta give them credit. They all have special abilities. ... They don't care who gets the credit."
  • Day feels Will Howard gaining more confidence and comfort in the offense, and he was happy with the quarterback's decision-making.
  • On Quinshon Judkins: "I just appreciate how hard he plays. ... He's got a great attitude. You can coach Quinshon hard. ... That's a great sign for somebody who hasn't been in the program for multiple years."
  • Day felt it was a "mixed bag" at 3-technique defensive tackle in place of Williams.
  • Day is open to keeping things more fluid between Tegra Tshabola and Austin Siereveld at right guard.

Will Howard, Quinshon Judkins, Jordan Hancock, Lathan Ransom and Emeka Egbuka also met with reporters following the game and you can see what they had to say in the videos below.
