I think Will Howard is great. He's a big, friendly golden retriever paddling around in a swimming pool filled with sharks and piranhas, and more or less holding his own. But if there was ever a statement that showed some of the hidden learning curves in the NIL/transfer era of college football, this is it.
Personally? I'm not particularly shocked by how Ohio State performed on Saturday. It was a sluggish showing from a team coming off a bye week, which itself came after two games against completely overmatched opponents. That the Buckeyes weren't exactly sharp to start a nooner against Marshall isn't the end of the world for me.
On the other hand, if they use that as an excuse to freak out and prepare twice as hard for the start of Big Ten games, I wouldn't be too upset about that either.
